What’s New In New Hampshire For 09/10

Attitash (603-374-2368; www.attitash.com) in Bartlett, N.H., has focused on snowmaking improvements: new pipe, snowguns,  etc. The base areas and lodges got a spruce-up and the rental shop has upgraded equipment.

Bretton Woods (877-873-0626; www.mountwashingtonresort.com ) in Bretton Woods, N.H., now has one of the longest, year-round Canopy Tours in the United States. Great fun after you’ve blown out your legs on their awesome snow.

Cannon Mountain (603-823-8800; www.cannonmt.com ) in Franconia, N.H., has REAL news:  they’ve done some  small-scale brushing and trimming on the newly re-opened Mittersill Ski Area.  Woods skiers take note!!! Notchview and Peabody Base Lodges have seen improvements, they’ve added a new Prinoth BR350 groomer, new snowmaking, and expansions to the rental shop and retail areas.

Crotched Mountain (603-588-3668; www.crotchedmountain.com ) in Bennington, N.H., has revamped their lodge entrance to make it more welcoming, and the upstairs now has a fireplace. They’ve also improved their already-amazing snowmaking system and tweaked their natural-snow trails.

Granite Gorge (603-358-5000; www.granitegorge.com ) in Roxbury, N.H. , has upgraded and relocated its rental shop and added new single and double tubes in the tubing area..

Gunstock (800-486-7862; www.gunstock.com ) in Gilford, N.H., is completing a two-year $3.25 million dollar expansion with a new fixed-grip quad chairlift in the Gunshy Beginner Complex almost quadruple the uphill capacity in the area. Two new trails and two extended trails will handle the extra traffic. Upgrades to the snowmaking system have nearly double snowmaking capacity from three years ago.

Loon Mountain Resort (800-229-5666; www.loonmtn.com ) in Lincoln, N.H., took a break after adding an entire new mountain with great lifts and wonderful trails last year.

Pats Peak (888-728-7732; www.patspeak.com ) in Henniker, N.H., has spent $5 million on improvements in the past five seasons. Look for major improvements to the “Bears’ Den” learning areae. There’s a new lift-serviced terrain park.  Snowmaking has been improved with the addition of more fan guns, more HKD snowguns and more snowmaking pipe.  The rental shop has 400 new pairs of skis and boots, and 100 new snowboards.  And, they’ve added brand new “secret gladed areas”, some of which are hike-to.

Mount Sunapee (603-763-3500; www.mtsunapee.com ) in Newbury, N.H. purchased 10 more energy efficient snow guns, added new gladed trail on the South Peak Learning Area, and expanded and renamed its “603″ terrain park

Wildcat  (888-754 9453; www.skiwildcat.com ) in Pinkham Notch, N.H., added  additional snowmaking pipe to enhance the snowmaking system, moved their terrain park, The Jib Lot, to the Lower Catapult Trail.
