Ever wanted to have your very own ski area? Maybe for something to say at cocktail parties…”Would you like to come up to my ski area next weekend? No, not ski cabin…I said ski area.” Or, for a place to hold the company Christmas party; no stuffy caterer’s hall for you, no sirree! Heck, perhaps you want to own one as a way to make money…it’s been done before.
The best way, of course, is to buy one at a bargain price, and here’s your chance. On December 15, Tenney Mountain in Plymouth, NH, will go on the auction block. Tenney is a classic New England ski mountain, all twists and turns; and, with 1400 feet of vertical and nearly 50 trails, it’s not a “boutique” mountain. It’s a serious ski area, close to a decent population base…in other words, there IS room for making real money there.
In addition, there are two other parcels that abut the ski area that will go up for sale the same day, so you can have your own build-it-yourself condo complex, too.
Now, there’s some fine print. If you want to bid, you’ll need $100,000 in small, unmarked bills (or some other form of cash acceptable to the auctioneer) to bid on the ski area, and another $25,000 to bid on each of the other parcels. Chump change, we know, but we just wanted to make sure you remember to take it with you. Oh, and read the fine print carefully…we noticed that the sale is subject to, among other things, the buyer paying off unpaid real estate taxes, which may be more than the auction bid itself!
For more details, you can go to the auctioneer’s website at http://www.josephfinn.com/TENNEY%20MOUNTAIN%20PAGE.htm ; all the information is there. And, if you’re the successful bidder, remember…we want to be invited to your Christmas party!
Oh, and if you AREN’T successful, don’t despair…it looks like Ascutney Mountain Resort will hit the auction block sometime soon, as well, so you’ll have another chance! More details as we get them…
This place has been great except for the poor weather last year. Recent owners never really tried to make a go of it. Hopefully that will change. It really is a lot of mountain and potential for the right buyer. When conditions are good it is a great old school ski experience.
